This painting is inspired by a visit to Richmond Lock and Weir, where I spent a morning painting 'En Plein Air' on the Thames Path in Springtime 2023. I then took my studies back to the studio and work on abstract impressions of the visit. I am interested in the relationship between people and nature and like to use fluorescent paints in my work, as underpaintings showing through here and there. I like the toxic beauty of fluorescent paint and am interested in how we are attracted to things that are not always good for us - a destructive element in our DNA that is hard to fight against.
