"Between Here and Now" - Original Oil Painting
Product Description
Between Here and Now is part of a series of four paintings inspired by the Church of the Holy Paraclete in Kirkhaugh, just outside Alston in Cumbria. The other paintings in this series are Wings, Blue Wings, and Beyond. Helen Alice Johnson explores the concept of the space in between—the gap between the ground and the sky, a concept often unintentionally left in children's landscape paintings. Through this exploration, the artist reflects on the spaces that are seen and those that are left unseen, using pattern and form to represent both the natural and the divine.
Helen’s fascination with pattern extends into this work, where the patterns within the painting created the suggestion of wings—an accidental yet beautiful discovery, perfectly aligning with the theme of the Church of the Holy Paraclete, where doves appear in the windows as symbols of the divine. The layers of oil, fluorescent acrylic, and gold leaf merge into a vibrant, intricate piece that celebrates the connection between the earth, the heavens, and the sacred patterns that bind them.
Framed in a Wimborne White wooden float frame, this 2024 work is a perfect addition for art collectors interested in abstract art that bridges the physical and spiritual worlds through the use of bold color and dynamic patterns.
