This piece was created following a weekend spent at Lowther Castle and Gardens, being inspired by the architecture of the castle as well as the structure of the trees growing in the courtyard.
Lowther Castle is an intriguing ruin with gardens cultivated to grow within and through the ruins.
I hope the abstract nature of the work shows how landscape, architecture and weather all combine to create an experience of being 'in' the space. The use of natural materials such as peat and elderberry add to the immersion of the experience.
