This painting is inspired by several visist to the North East Coast in Northumberland. I spent time painting by the sea, as well as wandering across the sands, taking in the atmosphere and beach combing for plastic. I used the plastic found on the beach to incorporate into the painting, as a reminder of the importance for us to look after our beautiful world. In this particular painting, a feather has been caught up in the plastic fishing line, and reminds us of the impact of our actions on the wildlife as well as the landscape. Sand from the beach has been mixed with the paint to create a textured ruggedness and the triquetra pattern has been taken from the motifs found on the clock tower in Tynemouth. This particular view is from Newbiggin by the Sea.
