This painting is inspired by the breathtaking view of Lake Windermere in the Lake District. During a walk across the fells, I stopped to make a small study in my sketch book of the lake from above, and used this as the starting point for this and one other painting, showing a vastness of the Lakes and the fells of Cumbria. Alongside its sister painting, they act either as a standalone or a diptych.
