This painting is part of a collection of three paintings inspired by a visit to the River Stour which runs from Canterbury to Sandwich in Kent. I spent the day on the river itself as well as on its banks and painted En Plein Air, as well as back in the studio to create this painting. The Rosebay Willowherd was dominant in the view and I used inks to create controlled but random marks, similar to the structure of the plant, swaying in the wind and the rain
