En Plein Air Landscape Painting in France by Helen Alice Johnson

This week in France, I’ve been busy delivering an online art workshop on how to paint a landscape en plein air. It’s been a wonderful experience teaching the techniques of outdoor painting while surrounded by the natural beauty of the French countryside. The workshop focused on capturing the essence of landscapes directly from nature, a technique that artists have been using for centuries. Plein Air Landscape Painting Workshop

During the workshop, I also nearly completed a garden painting commission. It has been an exciting journey, working outdoors in the French countryside, where the natural light and colors bring so much vibrancy to the canvas. My workshop attendees explored various techniques for capturing landscapes quickly and efficiently, making the most of their outdoor surroundings. New Lake District Paintings in Progress

In addition to teaching, I’ve also started two new landscape paintings of the Lake District, specifically focusing on scenes of Windermere.
